Film photography is more than just capturing images. It’s a craft, a process that demands patience, skill, and a deep understanding of light, cameras, and the chemistry behind development. Unlike instant digital results, film makes you slow down, think, and truly connect with every frame. I love it because it’s timeless and classic, each shot is a mix of precision and unpredictability, creating something uniquely beautiful that lasts beyond trends.

For those who may not be familiar with film photography, which I’m offering as part of my wedding packages, here’s a little introduction

to help you understand its charm and timeless appeal.

What Is Film Photography?

Film photography is the art of capturing images on light sensitive film, rather than a digital sensor. When exposed to light, the film records the image, which is then developed through a chemical process to produce negatives or slides. These negatives can be printed onto photographic paper or scanned for digital use.

How Film Photography Works

1. Loading Film – A roll of film (35mm, 120mm, or large format) is loaded into a camera.

2. Exposure – Light passes through the lens and exposes the film when the shutter opens.

3. Development – The exposed film is chemically processed to reveal the image.

4. Printing or Scanning – Negatives are either printed in a darkroom or scanned for digital viewing.

So let make it simple :

1. I will capture your wedding on carefully selected film (Kodak, Fuji, etc.), choosing the best option based on your wedding location and lighting conditions.
2. After the shoot, the film rolls will be developed in a darkroom (lab) to create negatives.
3. These negatives will then be scanned and converted into high-resolution digital files, which I’ll deliver to you wherever you are. Of course, you can also print them in stunning quality.

Why you have to do all of that, just to create a digital files like digital cameras nowaday ?

The answer lies in the nostalgic, vintage feel—the grain, the depth, and the rich colors. Every film stock we use is carefully chosen to match different locations, lighting conditions, and moments, creating a unique look that digital cameras struggle to replicate.

Creating a film photograph today is more expensive and requires significant effort, as you can see in the darkroom process. But once you step into this world, you’ll truly cherish each image and the moments they capture for a lifetime.

This doesn’t mean digital photography isn’t beautiful, "it absolutely is". But at the end of the day, I simply love the feel of film photography and the unique images I create for my couples.
